CS Energy – Swanbank Power Station

Swanbank Power Station provides electricity to the national electricity market from southeast Queensland. The Swanbank site comprises coal and gas-fired generating units, with a total capacity of 900 megawatts, which is enough to power about 1.1 million homes. Swanbank E, commissioned in 2002, is a combined cycled gas turbine and is one of the newest and most efficient power stations of its type in Australia. The coal-fired Swanbank B, built in the 1970s, has a long history of reliability and generates green energy at one of its units through the ReOrganic Project. ReOrganic involves landfill gas being piped to Swanbank from the adjacent Thiess landfill and used as a supplementary fuel.
